Six Medusa stools in different stones, receding along a white wall

Medusa

Where Water Becomes Stone.

Tommaso Spinzi

Stool / Side table / Sculpture

01The Story
A grey stone Medusa by a window overlooking the water

A form born of a dream.

Tommaso Spinzi grew up on the shores of Lake Como, then spent long years far away in Australia.

Back in Italy, he had a dream: Australian jellyfish drifting through the waters of his native lake.

From that image, where the memories of two places overlapped, Medusa was born. The name is the Italian word for jellyfish.

The soft curves of a creature afloat, carved from solid marble. Weight and lightness held in a single form: a sculptural piece of furniture.

A night-time dream that, by day, turns into a piece of furniture.

«…un sogno notturno che di giorno si trasforma in oggetto di arredo.»

02Material & Form

An expression only stone can draw.

Carved from solid marble, each Medusa carries shades and veins that vary from block to block.

  1. Curves

Heavy and bold, yet its smooth curves and flowing texture bring balance and harmony to a space.

  2. Head and tentacles

Made in two parts, the “head” and the “tentacles”, for easier transport. The division also allows different stones to be mixed and matched.

04About SPINZI

Between natural landscapes and mechanical form.

SPINZI is a Milan-based design studio working across furniture, interiors and creative projects, founded and led by Tommaso Spinzi, with bases in Milan and on Lake Como.

The studio finds beauty not only in natural landscapes but in mechanical and industrial elements. That perspective shapes a design language of sensual shapes and strong, tactile materials, futuristic yet contemporary.
